Prayer for Women while Travelling?

Answered as per Hanafi Fiqh by Qibla.com

Answered by Shaykh Abu Usamah

Do women have to pray when travelling? If so what is the correct method according to hanafi madhab? i.e. how should they pray on an airplane? Would dry ablution suffice?

Answer:
In the Name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful

Al-Salam `Alaykum

The laws regarding prayer, fasting, Zakah etc are the same for women as they are for men. This obviously excludes the times when a woman is in her menstrual period.

Thus a woman travelling will also have to pray. She must try and find a place that is private and out of view and offer all her prayers within their respective times.

If water is available (as is usually the case in airplanes) then she must make wudu. Tayammum (dry ablution) will not suffice in the presence of water.
