Qurbani – Having people sacrifice in the Motherland

Answered as per Hanafi Fiqh by Qibla.com

Answered by Shaykh Faraz Rabbani

I am writing to find out if it is valid for us to have our relatives in our motherlands take care of the Qurbani for us. If I can’t do one here for whatever reason, can I have my uncle in India arrange for a sacrifice with me paying him to get it done?

Answer:
In the Name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful

Walaikum assalam wa rahmatullah,

I pray this finds you in the best of health and spirits. Yes, it is valid to have someone in another country perform the sacrifice on one’s behalf.
