Praying after the Fard of Fajr

Answered as per Hanafi Fiqh by Qibla.com

Answered by Shaykh Faraz Rabbani

If you happen to miss the two sunnah’s of Fajr and the Imam starts the fard  pray, can you pray the sunnah after the Imam has completed the fard?

Answer:
In the Name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful

Walaikum assalam,

In the Hanafi school, you cannot. In general, it is prohibitively disliked to perform any prayer (including istikhara, greeting the masjid, need, etc) after the fard of Fajr, except for makeup (qada) prayers, until the sun rises in the sky.

Wassalam,

Faraz Rabbani.
