The Disliked Times for Makeup Prayers

Answered as per Hanafi Fiqh by Qibla.com

Answered by Shaykh Faraz Rabbani

Is there any time that performance of qada’ is disliked (and you have more than 6 qada’ to make up)?

Answer:
In the Name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful

Walaikum assalam,

Makeup prayers are only disliked at 3 times:

1. After sunrise [which is when any part of the actual orb of the sun appears on the horizon] until the sun has risen a spear-length or so. [=15 minutes or so]

2. When the sun is at the zenith. [This is the moment after which Zuhr time enters; if you avoid praying before the stated time for Zuhr coming in by 5 or 10
minutes, you are safe.]

3. When the sun gets close to setting, during Asr time right before Maghrib. This is when the sun itself appears to dim in intensity, such that you can look towards it without dazzling your eyes. [= About 25 to 35 minutes before Maghrib time.]

Wassalam,
Faraz.
