Does the husband have to buy makeup for his wife?
Answer:
السؤال : هل يجب على الزوج شراء أدوات الزينة ( المكياج ) لزوجته ؟ الجواب : لا يجب على الزوج شراء ذلك ، وليس له تكليفها شراءه لتتزين له ، فإن أرادها أن تتزين له به فليشتره هو من ماله أو تتبرع هي به .
In the Name of Allah, Most Merciful and Compassionate
Walaikum assalam wa rahmatullah,
It is not obligatory for the husband to buy makeup for his wife. However, he cannot make her buy it [with her own money] if he wishes that she adorn herself for him. In such a case, it would be upon him to pay for the makeup, unless she freely chooses to buy it herself [with her own money].
