Respected brother/sister

As far as mehr is concerned there is no limit for the maximum amount. However the minimum mehr has been stipulated as 10 dirhams which is equivalent to approximately R144,5 according to Imaam Abu Hanifa (RA).
Mehr may be given in the form of anything that is considered as wealth. Thus to give mehr in the form of cash, jewellery, animals or even clothing will be permissible. (At- Tashil as Daruri)
Mehr may be given in cash or it’s equivalents. Hence to give mehr in the form of gold will be acceptable as long as it exceeds 10 dirhams.
It is permissible for a portion of the mehr to be given at the time of nikah and the rest at a later stage. (Muthaahira Haq)

And Allah knows best
