Who is a Dayyooth?

Answered as per Hanafi Fiqh by Mahmoodiyah

Question:

I heard that Jannah is Haraam for 3 kinds of people, 1 being a Dayyooth.
From my interaction with others, it is evident that the majority of people are ignorant of this Major Sin. I would like some clarification, as I do Da’wah to Muslims as well.

1. Could you please furnish me with Hadith/(s) confirming the above, i.e.. The Dayyooth (I would like as much information possible).

2. Could you comment on it’s Authenticity.

3. Am i correct in telling people that the Dayyooth is the one who ALLOWS his wife to INTERACT with those whom Allah has made it Haraam to interact with for her (as the list for those people who it is permissible to interact with are mentioned in
Qur’an) ? My aim is to gain the pleasure of Allah, by informing people of the CORRECT law’s, so that they may not fall into eternal suffering by falling into the category of the Dayyooth. May Allah, the Most Merciful, Most High, grant you and your team the best of this world and the hereafter, Jannatul Firdous. Ameen.

Answer:

This Hadith is Sahih.  This Hadith is found in Mishkaat with reference to Imam Ahmad and Imam Nasaai.  A Dayyooth is a man whose wife is having an impermissible relationship with strange men and he does not prevent her from doing so no is he ashamed of her relationship with such men.  However it is inappropriate to directly call him a Dayyooth as this could lead to Fitnah and disputes.  It is necessary for you to explain to such a person of whom you are fully aware that he will not feel hurt or displeased of his wrongdoing.  You should not be harsh and persistent with regards to this.

If it is difficult for you to explain to him the evils of his actions then encourage to visit an ‘Aalim or pious person who follows the Sunnah and will have a positive effect on him or he should spend time with those involved with the work of Tableegh.  You should encourage people to have programmes pertaining to the virtues of Islam and other religious activities in their homes.  May Allah assist you and accept your intentions and efforts.  Aameen.

It should be borne in mind that one should not openly criticise such a person or accuse him of being a Dayyooth in public.
