Menses in Ihraam of Umrah

Answered as per Hanafi Fiqh by Mahmoodiyah

Question:

MENSES IN IHRAM FOR UMRAH

I am working in Dammam Saudi Arabia. During the holidays I went for Umrah by road with my family. At Taif (Meeqat) we took bath and got the Ihram for UMRAH and proceed to Makkah when we reached Makkah my wife got period (menses). I asked her to cut the hair and take out the Ihram. We performed Umrah (My wife did not) and came back to Dammam because I had to come at work and I could not stay long there till she get the bath (Ghusl) and get another Ihram from Aisha Mosque and perform UMRAH for her. Please let me know whether I did any thing wrong?

The method you adopted is incorrect. It is incumbent upon your wife to give two Damms which should be discharged in the Haram (she does not have to be in the Haram). The first is to atone for the Ihram which was removed and the second as a penalty for cutting her hair etc. Only then would it be permissible for her to cut her hair and become Halaal. She will also have to make Qadhaa of this Umrah.
