Who are the Mehram and non-Mehram relatives?

Answered as per Hanafi Fiqh by Jamia Binoria

What is the duration of Iddat for a widow who is a 2 month pregnant? Is it necessary to remove the nose ring after becoming a widow? Where is it written in Qur’an or Hadith? Who are the Mehram and non-Mehram relatives?

الجواب حامدا و مصلیا

IN THE NAME OF ALLAH THE MOST BENEFICENT AND THE MOST MERCIFUL
Iddat (عدت) of a pregnant woman, whether or not a widow, is upto the time of the delivery of the baby. During this period it is not allowed to use things which are normally women use to adorn themselves (like jewelry, which includes nose ring as well). As for the Mehrem, they are the relatives a woman is prohibited to marry at any cost (like father, paternal grandfather, maternal grandfather, son, grandson from daughter/son, brother, nephew from brother/sister. Uncle, son in law etc…) and those who are not so are called non-Mehrem relatives.

Allah knows best.
