What is the basis of fasting on the day of the night of Miraj, the 27th of Rajab? Furthermore, please provide reference to the occasion where Hazrat Umarؓ made people break their fasts on the 27th of Rajab.

Claiming and believing that it is Sunnat to fast on the 27th or Rajab is an innovation. This claim has also been observed from the people of innovation. One should refrain from fasting of this day. Hazrat Umar had also prohibited from fasting on this day so that people will not establish this action thinking that it is a Sunnat. The occasion where he made people break their fasts is mentioned in books of Ahadith, and some references has been given below.
