An unreliable narration on the virtue of buying something for one’s family and carrying it

Answered as per Hanafi Fiqh by HadithAnswers.com

Question

Is this narration authentic?

Buying for one’s family and carrying it:

“Whoever buys something for his family and then carries it with his hands to them the sin of seventy years will be forgiven from him.”

Answer

This narration is recorded in Musnadul Firdaws.

Sayyiduna Abu Bakr (radiyallahu ‘anhu) reported that Nabi (sallallahu ‘alayhi wa sallam) said: “Whoever buys something for his family and carries it with his with his own hands, seventy years of sins will be wiped off.”

(Musnadul Firdaws, Hadith: 5913)

However, the Muhaddithun have declared this narration a fabrication. It is therefore not suitable to quote.

And Allah Ta’ala Knows best.
