With regard to the answer about Sayyiduna ‘Umar and the thief, is there any version of the incident which mentions that a person who made zina was brought to Sayyiduna ‘Umar and not a thief?
Certain Fiqh books have mentioned that the person had committed adultery rather than steal. However, Hafiz Ibn Hajar (rahimahullah) states he has not come across this version. (لم أره في حق الزاني)
(At Talkhisul Habir, Hadith: 2160)
The version mentioned here should be quoted instead.
And Allah Ta’ala Knows best.
