What is the reference for this narration and can it be quoted?
Rasulullah (sallallahu ‘alayhi wa sallam) said: “This day [Friday] is a day of Eid, Allah Ta’ala has made it such for the Muslims. So have a bath, whoever has fragrance should apply it, and use the miswak.”
Answer:
Imam Ibn Majah (rahimahullah) has recorded this Hadith on the authority of Sayyiduna ‘Abdullah ibn ‘Abbas (radiyallahu ‘anhuma).
(Sunan Ibn Majah, Hadith: 1098)
The Hadith is suitable to practice as it is well corroborated.
