Allah Ta’ala has removed the pride and arrogance of the days of jahiliyyah

What is the reference for this Hadith and can it be quoted?

Rasulullah (sallallahu ‘alayhi wa sallam) said:

“God has removed the pride/arrogance of the days of ignorance and boasting about lineage. A person is either a pious believer or an evil sinner and the people are the children of Adam and Adam is from soil”

Answer

Imam Tirmidhi (rahimahullah) has recorded this Hadith on the authority of Sayyiduna Abu Hurayrah (radiyallahu ‘anhu) and has declared the Hadith authentic (hasanun sahih).

(Sunan Tirmidhi, Hadith: 3956)

The Hadith is therefore suitable to quote.

Imams Abu Dawud and Ahmad (rahimahumallah) have recorded this as part of a longer narration.

(Sunan Abi Dawud, Hadith: 5075, Musnad Ahmad, vol. 2 pg. 361 and pg. 524)

And Allah Ta’ala Knows best.
