Making du’a for one’s parents after Salah

Is this narration authentic:

قال سفيان بن عيينة: من صلى الصلوات الخمس فقد شكر الله تعالى، ومن دعا لوالديه في أدبار الصلوات فقد شكرهما

Answer

Many Mufassirun have quoted this as the commentary of Imam Sufyan ibn ‘Uyaynah (rahimahullah) under the Verse ‘Give thanks to Me and to your parents’ [Surah Luqman, Verse: 14].

(Refer: Tafsir Baghawi, Al Muharrarul Wajiz, Tafsir Qurtubi, Tafsir Nasafi and Ruhul Ma’ani, Surah Luqman, Verse: 14)

I have not come across the full chain. However, the Mufassirun [cited above] who have accepted it, are reliable senior Scholars.

Translation

Sufyan ibn ‘Uyaynah (rahimahullah) said: “Whoever offers the five daily Salah, has shown gratitude to Allah Ta’ala and whoever supplicates for his parents after Salah, has shown gratitude to them”

And Allah Ta’ala Knows best.
