Sufyan Thawri (rahimahullah) on carrying out good deeds immediately

إذا هممت بصدقة أو ببر أو بعمل صالح فعجل مضيه من ساعته من قبل أن يحول بينك وبينه الشيطان

Answer:

Imam Abu Nu’aym (rahimahullah) has recorded this as the statement of Imam Sufyan Thawri (rahimahullah).

(Hilyatul Awliya, vol. 7 pg. 61)

Translation

When you intend to give charity or carry out a good deed then carry it out immediately before Shaytan intervenes [and tries to prevent you].

And Allah Ta’ala knows best.
