Du’a when ones gaze falls on the full moon

Answered as per Hanafi Fiqh by HadithAnswers.com

What is the reference and authenticity of the following du’a which is to be recited when seeing the full moon?:

   أَعُوذُ بِاللَّهِ مِنْ شَرِّ هَذَا الغاسقِ إِذا وَقَب

Answer

This du’a has been recorded in: Sunan Tirmidhi, Hadith: 3366, Mustadrak Hakim, vol. 2 pg. 541 and Ibnus Sunni, Hadith: 648.

Imam Tirmidhi (rahimahullah) has declared it authentic (hasan sahih). Imam Hakim (rahimahullah) has also declared it as sahih.

And Allah Ta’ala Knows best,
