Imam Shafi’i’s visits to the grave of Imam Abu Hanifah (rahimahumallah)

Answered as per Hanafi Fiqh by HadithAnswers.com

I want to know the authenticity of this incident and the reliability of the narrators of this story. Imam Shafi’i (rahimahullah) used to visit the grave of Imam Abu Hanifah (rahimahullah), pray two rakats and ask du’a to Allah, he found these du’as to be effective.

Answer

‘Allamah Kawthari (rahimahullah) writes: ‘[This] is recorded by Khatib Baghdadi (rahimahullah) at the begining of his Tarikh [Baghdad] with a sahih (authentic) chain.

(Maqalatul Kawthari, pg.381)

And Allah Ta’ala Knows best,
