Du’as after ruku’ and sajdah

Answered as per Hanafi Fiqh by HadithAnswers.com

Please clarify if the following is from authentic Hadith?

1. While offering Salat, is it mustaheb to recite Hamdan Kathiran Tayyibann Mubarakan fih after saying “SammihAllahulliman Hamidah”

2 To recite the  du’a: Allah Humma Rabbighir Firli while sitting between the two Sajdahs in Salat.

Answer

Both these recitals are authentic.

1. This is recorded in Sahih Bukhari, Hadith: 799.

2. This is recorded in the following Hadith references:

Sunan Abi Dawud, Hadith: 870, Sunan Nasai, Hadith: 1069, Sunan Darimi, Hadith: 1324 & Sharh Mushkilul Athar, Hadith: 712.

Declared authentic (sahih) by Imam Hakim in Al-Mustadrak, vol.1 pg.271, and confirmed by ‘Allamah Dhahabi (rahimahumallah).

Notes concerning the recital between the two sajdahs:

a) The words in these references are: ‘Rabbigh fir li’ without ‘Allahumma’ at the beginning.

b) Some references have these words repeated twice, and others have it once only.

c) Imam Tahawi (rahimahullah) has strongly supported and encouraged its recital.

(Sharh Mushkilul Athar, after Hadith: 714)

And Allah Ta’ala Knows best,
