Sunnah duas to be recited in sajdah

Q: What are the different tasbeehat that we can recite in sujood besides سبحان ربي الأعلى?

Bismillaah

A: Reciting سبحان ربي الأعلى in sajdah is established from the Hadith. Hence, it is sunnah to recite this tasbeeh in sajdah. Apart from this tasbeeh, it is reported in some  Ahaadith that Rasulullah (Sallallahu Alayhi Wasallam) would at times recite certain duas in sajdah (e.g. when Rasulullah (Sallallahu Alayhi Wasallam) performed his tahajjud salaah or nafl salaah). Some of the duas that are recorded in the Hadith are mentioned below:

1. اللَّهُمَّ لَكَ سَجَدْتُ، وَلَكَ أَسْلَمْتُ، وَبِكَ آمَنْتُ، سَجَدَ وَجْهِي لِلَّذِي خَلَقَهُ وَصَوَّرَهُ فَأَحْسَنَ صُورَتَهُ وَشَقَّ سَمْعَهُ وَبَصَرَهُ، تَبَارَكَ اللَّهُ أَحْسَنُ الْخَالِقِينَ (صحيح مسلم رقم 201)

2. اللَّهُمَّ اغْفِرْ لِيْ ذَنْبِيْ كَلَّهُ دِقَّهُ وَجِلَّهُ وَأَوَّلَهُ وَآخِرَهُ وَعَلَانِيَتَهُ وَسِرَّهُ (صحيح مسلم رقم 216)

3. سَجَدَ لَكَ سَوَادِي وَخَيَالِي وَآمَنَ بِكَ فُؤَادِي أَبُوءُ بِنِعْمَتِكَ عَلَيَّ هَذِهِ يَدَايَ وَمَا جَنَيْتُ عَلَى نَفْسِي أَوْ بِمَا جَنَيْتُ عَلَى نَفْسِي (مسند البزار رقم 2034)

4. اللَّهُمَّ اغْفِرْ لِي مَا أَسْرَرْتُ وَمَا أَعْلَنْتُ (سنن النسائي رقم 1124)

5. اَللَّهُمَّ اجْعَلْ فِيْ قَلْبِيْ نُوْرَا وَفِيْ سَمْعِيْ نُوْرَا وَفِيْ بَصَرِيْ نُوْرَا وَعَنْ يَمِيْنِيْ نُوْرَا وَعَنْ شِمَالِيْ نُوْرَا وَأَمَامِيْ نُوْرَا وَخَلْفِيْ نُوْرَا وَفَوْقِيْ نُوْرَا وَتَحْتِيْ نُوْرَا واجْعَل لِيْ نُوْرَا (صحيح مسلم رقم 187)

6. أَعُوْذُ بِرِضَاكَ مِنْ سَخَطِكَ وَأَعُوْذُ بِمُعَافَاتِكَ مِنْ عُقُوْبَتِكَ وَأَعُوْذُ بِكَ مِنْكَ لَا أُحْصِيْ ثَنَاءً عَلَيْكَ أَنْتَ كَمَا أثْنَيْتَ عَلَى نَفْسِكْ (صحيح مسلم رقم 222)

7. سُبْحَانَكَ اللَّهُمَّ رَبَّنَا وَبِحَمْدِكَ اَللَّهُمَّ اغْفِرْ لِيْ (صحبح البخاري رقم 4968)
