One Jurist is stronger against shaytan than a thousand worshippers

Kindly provide the reference for this hadith:

One Jurist is stronger against shaytaan than a thousand worshippers.

Answer

Sayyiduna ‘Abdullah ibn ‘Abbas (radiyallahu ‘anhuma) reports that Nabi (sallallahu ‘alayhi wa sallam) said:

A jurist is stronger against Shaytan than a thousand worshippers

(Sunan Tirmidhi, Hadith: 2681)

Imam Tirmidhi (rahimahullah) has graded the above hadith as weak.

However  after citing various other chains for this narration Hafiz Sakhawi (rahimahullah) states “These chains strengthen each other”

(Al Maqasidul Hasanah, Hadith: 864)

‘Allamah Suyuti (rahimahullah) has recorded a similar narration. He then classifies the chain of narrators as sound (hasan).

(Refer: Kanzul ‘Ummal, Hadith: 27083)

And Allah Ta’ala Knows best,
