What is the source of this Hadith?
Rasulullah (sallallahu ‘alayhi wa sallam) said: “I stand guarantee for a house in the middle of Jannah for the person who avoids lying even if he were joking/in jest.”
Answer
Imam Abu Dawud (rahimahullah) has recorded this Hadith as part of a longer narration on the authority of Sayyiduna Abu Umamah (radiyallahu ‘anhu).
(Sunan Abi Dawud, Hadith: 4767)
Imam Tirmidhi (rahimahullah) has recorded a similar narration on the authority of Sayyiduna Anas ibn Malik (radiyallahu ‘anhu) and has declared it sound (hasan).
