Do I Need to Perform a Ghusl Because of the Exiting of Pre-Sexual Fluid (Madhi)?

Answered as per Hanafi Fiqh by Seekersguidance.org

Answered by Ustadh Tabraze Azam

Question: As salam alaykum,

Is it obligatory to perform a Bath (Ghusl) if pre-sexual fluid comes out due to sexual thoughts or watching something sexual?

Answer: Wa alaikum assalam wa rahmatullahi wa barakatuh,

I pray that this message finds you well, insha’Allah.

Pre-sexual fluid (madhi) invalidates the ritual ablution, but does not necessitate a bath (ghusl) because baths are only required from those things which enter a person into a state of major ritual impurity (janabah). [see: The Ritual Bath (ghusl): Obligatory, Recommended, and Disliked Acts]
