Proof for prohibiting one who needs a bath from entering the masjid

Answered as per Hanafi Fiqh by HadithAnswers.com

Is there any authentic hadith that stops menstruating women & the Junub (one who needs an obligatory bath) from entering the Masjid?

Jazakallah for your great service.

Answer

Sayyiduna ‘Aishah (radiyallahu’anha) reports that Rasulullah (sallallahu’alayhi wasallam) said:

“…I do not permit the menstruating woman and those in janabat (those in need of a fard bath) from entering the masjid”

(Sunan Abi Dawud, hadith: 235)

This hadith is classified as sound (hasan) by Imam Ibnul Qattan and ‘Allamah Zayla’i (rahimahumallah)

(Nasbur Rayah, hadith: 808)

Hafiz Ibn Hajar (rahimahullah) says that hadith number 296 in Sahih Bukhari also supports this ruling.

(Fathul Bari, hadith: 296)

And Allah Ta’ala Knows best,
