What is the authenticity of this Hadith?
Sayyiduna Abu Hurayrah (radiyallahu ‘anhu) narrates that Rasulullah (sallallahu ‘alayhi wa sallam) said: “If anyone sits in a place and does not remember Allah there, then this sitting will cause him a loss from Allah and if anyone lies down in a place and does not remember Allah, then this will cause him a loss from Allah.”
Answer
Imam Abu Dawud (rahimahullah) has recorded this Hadith.
(Sunan Abi Dawud, Hadith: 4822 and 5020)
Imam Ibn Hibban (rahimahullah) has declared it authentic [although his version is a longer one].
(Sahih Ibn Hibban; Al Ihsan, Hadith: 853)
