Remembering Allah Ta’ala in Ramadan

Is the following Hadith authentic?

Rasulullah (sallallahu ‘alayhi wa sallam) said:

“The one who remembers Allah [does dhikr] in Ramadan will be forgiven and the one who asks Allah in [Ramadan] will not be at a loss/disappointed”

Answer

Imams Tabarani and Bayhaqi (rahimahumallah) have recorded this Hadith on the authority of Sayyiduna ‘Umar (radiyallahu ‘anhu) with a weak chain.

(Al Mu’jamul Awsat, Hadith: 6166 and 7337, Shu’abul Iman, Hadith: 3355. Refer: Majma’uz Zawaid, vol. 3 pg. 143, Faydul Qadir, Hadith: 4312)

The narration is suitable to quote for encouragement and generating hope in Allah’s mercy, as is the case with Hadiths of this nature.

And Allah Ta’ala Knows best.
