What is the authenticity of this Hadith?
Sayyiduna Anas (radiyallahu ‘anhu) reported that Nabi (sallallahu ‘alayhi wa sallam) said:
“Verily Allah will ask every guardian for the things under his custody, whether he cared for them or neglected them.”
Answer:
Imam Ibn Hibban (rahimahullah) has recorded this Hadith and has declared it authentic.
(Sahih ibn Hibban; Al Ihsan, Hadith: 4492)
Similar words have also been recorded in Sahih Bukhari and Sahih Muslim.
(Sahih Bukhari, Hadith: 893, 2409 and Sahih Muslim, Hadith: 1829)
