Reciting Surah Yasin when entering the graveyard

Is this Hadith authentic?

Nabi (sallallahu ‘alayhi wa sallam) said:

“Whoever enters the graveyard and reads Surah Yasin, their punishment will be lightened on that day and he will receive reward equal to the number of people buried in the graveyard.”

Answer

Imam Tha’labi (rahimahullah) has recorded this narration with an extremely weak chain. The chain consists of a narrator who has been accused of fabricating Hadith.

(Al Kashfu Wal Bayan; Tafsiruth Tha’labi, introduction of Surah Yasin. Refer: Lisanul Mizan, vol. 2 pg. 254, number: 1382)

‘Allamah Sakhawi (rahimahullah) has stated, ‘I think the Hadith is unauthentic.’

(Al Ajwibatul Mardiyyah, vol. 1 pg. 170)

And Allah Ta’ala Knows best.

However, we are indeed encouraged to recite Surah Yasin upon the deceased in general, whether that be in the graveyard or elsewhere. See here.
