A narration regarding ‘Isa (‘alayhis salam)

What is the authenticity of the following Hadith?

“‘Isa ibn Maryam (‘alayhis salam) will descend to the earth, get married and have children. He will live for 45 years and will then pass away. He will be buried with me in my grave. ‘Isa (‘alayhis salam) and I will stand up from one grave on the Day of Qiyamah between Abu Bakr and ‘Umar”

Answer

‘Allamah Ibnul Jawzi (rahimahullah) has expressed extreme reservation with regards to the authenticity of the Hadith in question. After declaring the Hadith in question weak, Shaykh ‘Abdul Fattah Abu Ghuddah (rahimahullah) states that authentic Hadiths mention that ‘Isa (alayhis salam) will remain on earth for 40 years [and not 45 as mentioned above.]

(Al ‘Ilalul Mutanahiyah, vol. 2 pg. 915 and Footnotes of Shaykh ‘Abdul Fattah Abu Ghuddah on At Tasrih Bima Tawatara Fi Nuzulil Masih, pg. 240, Hadith: 58. Also see: Sharhuz Zurqani ‘Alal Mawahib, vol. 12 pg. 175)

There are other narrations stating that ‘Isa (‘alayhis salam) will be buried with Nabi (sallallahu ‘alayhi wa sallam). See here.

And Allah Ta’ala Knows best.
