This Hadith has been recorded in numerous Hadith collections with variations in the wording. Imam Bukhari (rahimahullah) has recorded the following version:
Sayyiduna ‘Abdullah ibn ‘Abbas (radiyallahu ‘anhuma) reports:
“Rasulullah (sallallahu ‘alayhi wa sallam) cursed those men who imitate women and those women who imitate men”
(Sahih Bukhari, Hadith: 5885)
‘Emulating’ or ‘imitating’ in this Hadith refers to the manner of dressing, adornment, the manner of walking and talking of each gender.
