The reward for reciting certain du’as during Tawaf

What is the authenticity of the following?

“Whoever performs Tawaf around the Ka’bah seven times and does not say anything except: Subhan Allah wal-hamdu lillah, wa la ilaha illallah walAllahu Akbar, wa la hawla wa la quwwata illa billah (Glory is to Allah, praise is to Allah, none has the right to be worshipped but Allah, and there is no power nor strength except with Allah), ten bad deeds will be erased from him, ten merits will be recorded for him, and he will be raised ten degrees in status”

Answer

Imam Ibn Majah (rahimahullah) has recorded this Hadith on the authority of Sayyiduna Abu Hurayrah (radiyallahu ‘anhu) as part of a longer narration.

(Sunan Ibn Majah, Hadith: 2957 and Al Mu’jamul Awsat of Tabarani, Hadith: 8395)

Hafiz Ibn Hajar and ‘Allamah Sakhawi (rahimahumallah) have declared the chain weak.

(Talkhisul Habir, vol. 2 pg. 474, Al Maqasidul Hasanah, Hadith: 1144. Also see Targhib, vol. 2 pg. 192)

The Hadith is suitable to quote as is the case with Hadiths of this nature.

And Allah Ta’ala Knows best.
