Do not take the Quran as a pillow, give it its proper due

Is the following Hadith authentic?

Rasulullah (sallallahu ‘alayhi wa sallam) said:

“O people of the Qur’an, do not take the Qur’an as a pillow [i.e. do not cast it aside abandoning it]; recite it properly, giving it its proper due throughout the day and the night. Spread its message, and ponder upon it, so that you may become successful”

Answer

Imam Tabarani and Imam Bayhaqi (rahimahumallah) have recorded this Hadith on the authority of Sayyiduna ‘Ubaydah Al Mulayki (radiyallahu ‘anhu). ‘Allamah Haythami (rahimahullah) has declared the chain weak.

(Shu’abul Iman, Hadith: 1852-1854, Majma’uz Zawaid, vol. 2 pg. 252)

The Hadith is suitable to quote for encouragement towards the Quran as is the case with Hadiths of this nature.

And Allah Ta’ala Knows best.
