An unauthentic narration on the Persian language

What is the authenticity of the following Hadith?

Nabi (sallallahu ‘alayhi wa sallam) said:

“Whoever is able to speak Arabic fluently should not speak Persian for it creates hypocrisy”

Answer

Imam Hakim (rahimahullah) has recorded this narration on the authority of Sayyiduna ‘Abdullah ibn ‘Umar (radiyallahu ‘anhuma).

(Mustadrak Hakim, vol. 4 pg. 87)

However this narration has been transmitted through an extremely weak narrator. Some Muhaddithun have declared him a liar. The Hadith in question is therefore not suitable to quote.

(Talkhisul Mustadrak, Mizanul I’tidal, vol. 3 pg. 237-239. Also see: Faydul Qadir, Hadith: 8340 and Al Mughir)

And Allah Ta’ala Knows best.
