Fatawa on Marrying a daughter of a Family Planning Officer

Answered as per Hanafi Fiqh by Fatwaa.com

I am intending to propose marriage to a practicing muslim woman. I am satisfied with her deen, she is family oriented, homely and maintains Purdah. Only problem is, both her parents work in the family planning department of the government. From their savings, they also purchased two shops from where they get rent.

Question-1) Since their job entails them to promote both temporary and permanent contraception, and thus their income may be mixed, can her parents income be classified overall halal?

P.S: they also receive income as rent from their shops.

Question-2) If I marry her, can I accept invitation at her parents house?

Jazak’Allah Khairun

Answer

Wa’alaykum as Salām wa rahmatullāhi wa barakātuhu,

In order to provide a correct and accurate response on the permissibility of the job in question, as well as the income therefrom, we require full details on the job description.

Please send more details, and we will then respond, inshā Allāh.
