Answered according to Hanafi Fiqh by Fatwaa.com

Is wearing the colour gold, and yellow, and fake gold haram ————— Sahih Muslim Book 024, Hadith Number 5176. – ‘Ali b. Abu Talib reported that Allah’s Messenger (may peace be upon him) forbade wearing of silk and yellow clothes, and the gold ring, and the reciting of the Qur’an in the ruku’ (state of kneeling in prayer).———— And the hadith, “Gold and silk have been made lawful for the women of my Ummah and prohibited for men” (Sunan Tirmizi & Sunan Nasa’i)

Answer

Wa’alaykum as Salam wa rahmatullahi wa barakatuhu,

These narrations are with regards to original gold. It is Makruh Tanzihi (slightly abominable) to wear bright colours, like yellow, golden colour etc.

And Allaah Ta’aala knows best
