Youth is a part of insanity

Answered as per Hanafi Fiqh by HadithAnswers.com

I would like to ask the authenticity and meaning of the Hadith:

Youth is a type of madness

Answer

This Hadith is recorded in several Hadith collections and is suitable to quote in light of its other supports.

(Al-Maqasidul Hasanah, Hadith: 586 & 241, Kashful Khafa, Hadith: 1530 & Faydul Qadir, Hadith: 4928)

Meaning

Youth has been termed as a part of insanity due to the fact that a person -sometimes- does acts in his youth which he himself would not believe in his later years. A youngster is generally full of energy, and when expressing this, he sometimes commits insane deeds.

(Faydul Qadir, Hadith: 4928)

And Allah Ta’ala Knows best,
