Marriage of a hanafi to a shaafi’ee

Answered as per Hanafi Fiqh by Fatwaa.com

In the case where a hanafi girl marries a shafi’ee boy, which mahr will be considered. Will It be that of the hanafi’s or the shafi’ees?

Answer

Wa’alaykum as Salam wa rahmatullahi wa barakatuhu,

The Mahr will be considered according to the Madhab of the girl. Thus, in the case where the girl is a Hanafi, the boy will have to consider the minimum Mahr of the Hanafi Madhab (10 Dirhams).
