Assalamualaykum ww
Pray your doing well Mufti saab,
We have a few questions we wanted to seek advice on if you could kindly assist us;
*Please advise if someone has a tv in their house in the sitting room and they pray namaz in the same sitting room, is that possible or namaz is not valid? The tv is is switched off during namaz..
*If someone keeps a cupboard filled with some Islamic kitaabs and Quraan shareef in the sitting room. and there is a tv in the same sitting room is this a big sin? The tv is not facing the cupboard but let’s say both cupboard and tv placed in the same line.
*if a person has wudhu then watches tv and prays namaz is this allowed?

In the Name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful.
As-salāmu ‘alaykum wa-rahmatullāhi wa-barakātuh.
Salaah is one of the fundamental pillars of Islam. When one is performing Salaah, he/she is conversing with Almighty Allah. One should show utmost reverence and respect when conversing with the lord of the universe.
Hereunder are your answers to your query:
- Salaah performed in the same room where a television is placed is valid.
- It is disliked and against the honour of the Qur’aan to be placed with the television.
- Watching television does not invalidate the wudhu. However, the jurists have stated that it is Mustahab to renew one’s wudhu after committing a sin. [1]
