Refusing to use Hand Sanitizer

Answered as per Hanafi Fiqh by DaruliftaaZambia.com

Question

If i follow a view that all forms of alcohol are haraam including the one used in hand sanitizers.

Can the masjid authorities force it down upon me to sanitize my hands with that sanitizer?

From a sharia point of view can they deny me entry into the masjid simply because i refuse to sanitize my hands with a product that i consider haraam?

Answer

In the Name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful.
As-salāmu ‘alaykum wa-rahmatullāhi wa-barakātuh.

We commend you for your level of taqwa to abstain from using hand sanitizers.

Sanitizing hands before entering the Masjid is a directive from the Ministry of Health. Enforcement and adherence to this directive is in the interest of keeping the Masaajid open for our daily Salaah.

If you wish to avoid using sanitizers with synthetic alcohol, you may use your own non-alcoholic sanitizer at the entrance of the Masjid and enter the Masjid for Salaah.
