Do I Fast in this situation

Answered as per Hanafi Fiqh by DarulIftaBirmingham

I am female and I have had my monthly, it has now been seven days but I still have very minor traces left. Can I fast? I have heard that after seven days you can pray and also fast.

Answer:

In the name of Allah, the most Beneficent, the most Merciful.

If a woman bleeds for more than her normal habit but within ten days, say for example her normal habit is seven, so she bleeds for more than seven days but less than ten days, then this increased number will become her new habit for the next period.  (Key to Purity p.20 –p.21 & Dars Tirmizi p.363 v.1)

Keeping the aforementioned principle in mind, we can derive that if you’ve noticed blood after seven days it will still be treated as monthly periods, hence, you will be obliged to refrain from fasting.
