Can an Imam Lead the Khutbah of Multiple Jumuah?

Question:

Can an Imam lead the Khutbah of multiple Jumuah?

In the name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful

Answer:

According to the Hanafii Madhab there is a condition that the prayer of the Imam should correspond to that of the follower.1 The Imam will fulfil his Fardh with the first Jummah, and the second Jummah will be considered Nafl. Thus the fardh of the followers will not correspond with the nafl of the Imam. Due to this, it is not permissible for the Imam to lead multiple Jummahs. To work around this the Imam may give the Khutbah for the second Jummah and request someone else to lead the prayer.

Only Allah knows best
