Salam whilst eating and talking

Answered as per Hanafi Fiqh by DarulIftaBirmingham

Salam whilst eating and talking

In the name of Allah, the most Beneficent, the most Merciful.

Answer

A person should not give salam to a person who is eating or busy talking to someone. If he does then it is not obligatory to the person eating to reply. (However, he may do so if he wishes). If the person who is busy talking happens to hear the salam he should reply to it. (Mazaahirul Haqq p.348 v.5)
