Eid-ul-Adha and the day of Arafah

Answered as per Hanafi Fiqh by Muftionline.co.za

Q:

  1. Could you please let me know after how many days from Eid ul Fitr does Eid ul Adha come?
  2. Since Yaum ul Arafah comes only once, why do people in India and Pakistan or other countries only follow the calender dates rather than the exact Arafah day.

A:

  1. 2 months and 10 days.
  2. Arafah day is determined by the sighting of the moon as commanded by the hadeeth.

And Allah Ta’ala (الله تعالى) knows best.
