Question

Assalam walaikum, is it allowed for a husband to hire another woman who can take care of his wife when he is away? Especially when there are no relatives living around the area.

In the name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful

Answer:

It is permissible for a husband to hire a female caretaker for his wife whether he is away from home or not. Similarly, it is a well-known method in the time of the Prophet (SAW) and throughout history that women would be hired for services like breastfeeding, nursing, caretaking, midwifery, and many other things.

In the same manner, slaves were also a means of caretaking in Arabian history and did exist in Islam.
