Question

Is it appropriate to put BUKH4RI or MUSL1M on a license plate? Is it in any way disrespectful? (If no disrespect is intended)

In the name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful

Answer:

The guidelines of the Shariah are what we rely upon to come to conclusions that are pleasing to Allah and beneficial to mankind.

The Shariah mentions that “All matters are judged based upon their intended purposes”[1]. In this situation, the intention of using these words will be considered.

Since the intention is not as a means of disrespect and the names Bukhari and Muslim are not from the attributes of Allah and they are single words and do not constitute an entire verse of the Quran, then it will be allowed to use them as license plates.
