Question

Assalamu alaikum

Is it permissible for a woman to be the Imaam and lead the salah for only the women behind them?

بِسْمِ اللهِ الرَّحْمنِ الرَّحِيْم

In the name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful

Answer:

It is disliked for a woman to lead the prayer for female jamaat. If they pray together, then the female Imam should stand in their midst and not in front of them, just how Aisha (R.a) led the salaah.[1]

Aisha (R.a)´s narration regarding women leading the prayer for females” was at the beginning of Islam.[2]
