Question:

Assalamu Alaikum Wa Rahmatullah

Who bewitched The prophet Muhammad (S.A.W) and why?

Answer:

بسم الله الرحمن الرحيم

In the name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful.

Assalamualaikum Wa Rahmatullahi Wa Barakaatuh

After the battle of Khaybar, Rasulullah (S.A.W) stayed in Khaybar for a couple of days. It was during this stay that this incident took place. A woman by the name Haritha Bint Zaid prepared some meat which she covered with poison and presented it as a gift to the Holy Prophet (S.A.W).

It is said as soon as Rasulullah (S.A.W) put the piece of meat towards his mouth and he ordered the Sahaba to stop eating as the meat has been poisoned. However, one Sahabi named Bishr Bin Bara had already consumed the meat.

Rasulullah (S.A.W) called the woman and asked as to why she poisoned the meat and she replied, “if you were a liar then people will be saved from your lies and if you’re a true prophet, Allah will inform you about the poison”. The Holy Prophet (S.A.W) forgave the woman and did not take revenge. However, after a few days, Bishr Bin Bara passed away due to the poison. Thereafter, the woman (who was responsible for the poison) was called and executed for the killing of Bishr Bin Bara.
