Is wearing pants & shirts a sin if it’s not following sunnah?

Answered as per Hanafi Fiqh by Darulifta-Deoband.com
Moulanasab, Assalamu alaikum wa rahmatullahi wa barakatahu. I’m an MBA graduate. I wear libas-as-sunnah (kurta & pyjama) and sport full beard. I stopped wearing pants & shirts since the year 2000. Many a people advised me to start wearing pants & shirts again because I may not get job offers in the dress I’m wearing right now. Currently I don’t have a job. And sometimes I feel that I’m not getting a good job because of my dress code. Is it a sin to wear pants & shirts? Is it like copying or following something else than sunnah? Should I start wearing them? Please help me with this. May Allah reward you with the best. Allah Hafiz.

(Fatwa: 214/D-30/K=1431)

You adopted the dress of pious and religious people after giving up the dress of sinful and debauched persons, Jews and Christians. You should be thankful to Allah for the same and consider this act of yours the boon of Almighty Allah. Never feel sorry or shyness, rather keep on praying for regularity. One is put to test in the path of Allah and the Satan makes one nervous by whispering. Your thought that you are not getting job offer is a satanic whispering.

لا معطى لما منعت و لا مانع لما اعطيت

One whom Allah stops giving, no one can give him, and whom Allah wishes to give, no one can stop. So, keep on wearing the dress of pious persons i.e. kurta payjama. However, if you are in need of wearing paint and shirt in compulsion at the time of an interview or duty, then it may be allowable for you. But always feel a kind of unpalatable in your heart and must not allow yourself to start liking the dress of sinful and debauched persons. Usually, paint is below the ankles while covering the ankles is unlawful, as well as hadith warns torment of hell. Paints are tight and fixed that reveal the structure of hidden parts, as well as cause difficulty in offering ruku and sajdah, even sometime taharat full tahrah is not obtained and some time ruku and sajdah are not offered according to sunnah. Hence, it is obvious that wearing paint is makrooh.
