The Sunnah for a Newborn’s First Bath

Answered as per Hanafi Fiqh by Darul Iftaa Chicago
Some say to not let the baby shower right after the baby is born, as the white protective layer on the baby's skin helps in some way God knows. We want to do what our sunnah says about it. What is the exact sunnah about the baby's first bath?
الجواب حامدا ومصليا

We are not aware of any rulings pertaining to the baby's first bath. It can be done as soon as possible barring any medical reasons to not do so.
