Disposing of Haraam Food

Answered as per Hanafi Fiqh by CouncilofUlama.co.za

Q: I just found out a packet of biscuits that I bought is haram. There is still some left. I’m not eating them so is it allowed for me to throw it away or not?

A: It is not permissible to give any haraam footstuff to anyone with the intention of them eating it even though it be a non Muslim. However you could give it to a non Muslim telling them to dispose of it; then if this person consumes it the onus will not be on the Muslim.
